Ramblings, Questions and a recipe

Last night while we were eating dinner I realized that everything (less a few spices) was either homemade or homegrown. It felt pretty neat. We try to make a lot of meals from scratch and for most of the summer many side dishes were grown but this was way cool!

We ate the spinach pasta that the kiddos made, topped with tomato sauce made with home grown tomatoes and garlic. There were some other spices in the sauce that are all store purchased (salt, pepper, basil, oregano, and whateverelsegotthrowninthatday.)

Side dishes included homemade applesauce, homemade French bread, and homegrown beets. I'm now wishing that I took a picture!!

I have some blog related questions for ya...

**First and foremost does anyone else have issues using Mr. Linky? EVERY time I have used it (on someone else's site) it enters my name in for not one number but two. I promise I don't double click or hit enter twice and I have tried both using the enter key on the keyboard (once) or clicking on the enter button with my mouse (once). I like participating in the fun stuff that goes on around here but I feel like a goof that I ALWAYS take up 2 numbers. Can anyone help? Just curious.

Secondly, did you pay someone to do your blog design or do it yourself? I don't plan to pay for one but I'm just curious. I know what I'd like this blog to look like but I'm limited to my own knowledge, speed of learning and lack of time at the moment.

Thirdly um, never mind. I realized that I had no "email me" button on here like I thought so now I updated it in my profile!

Lastly, when do you find that you spend your time blogging? Now that my son doesn't nap I do a larger block of time after he's in bed and then since our computer is in close proximity to the living area I check in through out the day when I can "steal" a quiet moment and I go down my blogroll a couple at a sitting if I can.

Thanks for answering if ya feel like it!

For the spinach linguine, we followed the recipe in my Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. I found a similar recipe online here.

To dry the pasta hang from a clothes hanger or my MIL said that she would just let it sit in loose clumps on a cooling rack overnight or till completely dry. Place in an air tight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days or in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to 8 months.

All hail the spinach linguini!!!

My blog design is a Blogger template -- nothing special.

I had many problems, but when I downloaded beta blogger's new version, things have been smoother.

1. No, but I've only used it once.
2. It's a wordpress template with the sidebars widgets adjusted as necessary (and still tweaking). Why don't you post what you want to do and maybe some of us can help you, although I'm by no means an expert.
4. At work, between experiments (what else are you going to do while your experiment incubates for 5 minutes) and during my lunch hour (I try to write since it's a larger block).

And thanks for your message of support, Heidi. I will get there, but it will take a long time.

I modified my template a little. I just got an html book from the library and did it try and err.

I blog any free time I get. :-)

No problems with Mr Linky. I wonder if you check their site if you could find some help.

No. basic blogger template. I am HTML ignorant. I was able to do a lot more tweaking with beta blogger though

I also sneak in blog time through the day. I mostly get time first thing in the AM. I don't do much at night unless Tim is gone or wants to watch sports.

Oh, I bet that feel good to sit down and eat that meal. I would love to have a meal completely homemade sitting on my table for my family some day.

As for the blogging questions...

1. I've never had that problem. I'd play along anyway. No one cares if you took up two spaces. :)

2. My first blog design, I paid for. Then, I learned how to do most of it on my own...so now all of my designs are done by me. Email me anytime, if you want help with yours.

3. Okay. :)

4. I blog whenever I can. Which isn't that often. I've been trying to keep my priorities straight and making sure that I'm giving both quality and quantity to the other priorities in my life. Unfortunately, or fortunately, blogging comes in very low on that list. So, I don't get to do it as much. Sometimes, it takes me a couple of days to get a post fully written. Just because I just do it in little spurts throughout a day.

I paid someone to design my blog, Nello Design. She did a great job and for only $50. She's taking a break right now, though, but you can find 'em good and cheap out there!

Thanks for your comments. I may indeed take you up on your help (Nicki and Brian) when I get a bit more motivated and a bit more time to focus (if that's ever possible!)
The main thing that I know I want is a design at the top of my blog and I know how to actually place the design there but I'm having trouble coming up with one I like.

Thanks again for your input!
