Thanks to you all for sharing some fun cravings, in the last two weeks I can't stop eating those little green canned chilies (mild), so yummy in quesadillas and scrambled eggs!
Well my next question is do any of you volunteer anywhere with your kids? I have been trying to find a way to volunteer maybe once a month or so but it needs to be somewhere kid friendly since I'd probably go during a weekday or we could all go together on a weekend. I've called a local food bank and they need help in the warehouse where there is heavy machinery (forklifts) anyway, not really an option with a toddler on my back or running around. I think it's important for us to do something for others every once in awhile and I think it will be good for our kids to see that example. Any ideas?

I volunteered at a nursing home in high school and have always wanted to do this with my kids, but we haven't yet.
I volunteer at my dd's school every Friday in the classroom. I wonder if you could volunteer for a children's story time at a local library. When I worked for a Children's Museum, we THRIVED on volunteers.
We volunteer with our high school youth group at church, but I admit it's hard to do with Emma. Most of the time, my parents end up watching her for us. I think visitng a nursing home would be a great thing to do with kids -- a way to get your little one comfortable with the elderly while learning that they have something to teach us. Kudos to you for thinking of others when you have your hands (and belly) full right now!
I just noticed you added me to your sidebar! Thanks! I feel honored.
Volunteering with the kids is something I have been meaning to do . . . .We have gone to nursing homes in the past. The residents love to have kids around. I'd suggest some joining some sort of activity. (craft, reading, ect) My oldest was a bit weirded out at first, but he adjusted and it was good for all of us! :)
You go! I love people who like to get out and help others. I've done mission work and really feel called to serve. There are local food pantries at churches. I've worked at these with my kids and it's easy. Call your rescue mission. They usually have things you could do with a little one behind the scenes. Your church may have something. A local pregnancy center too.
It's hard when they are young. I'm trying to figure out how I can volunteer at my son's school and I'm going to need care for my youngest. I have to remember that there is a time for everything.
You can also go to the store and have him help you pick out a few cans of food, hygiene items, etc and take them someplace local. My kids really like that!
Hats off to you for helping!
