I'm curious what your favorite board games are? I am SO very sick of Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders (pulling my hair our with boredom) that I've decided with some of the money my kids got for their birthdays in August I'm going to buy a couple new board games. What should I get???
My son likes to play his "big games" (board games) everyday. The card games, uno, go fish and old maid, he enjoys almost as much. I just saw on the uno box that it's 7+ but he does fairly well (kicks my butt!) He is only 4 but most of the games for that age group are so dreary for me! I'd really like your opinions, what games do your kids like best??

Twister and Trouble are fun games, and Sequence may even be a good choice, especially if he is good with card games.
You might be able to get him some junior games or even games like Battleship or Chinese checkers. Battleship is actually my 5 year old's favorite game, but he has to have help playing. He also really enjoys playing Risk, which is a really awesome game!
Of course, we usually have 5 people playing ranging in age from 5 to 31, with us trying to trick our 2 year old into thinking she is playing too, and that makes the game quite interesting.
Pictionary Junior, Monopoly Junior, Sorry, Cranium, and Boggle are my kids favorite games. They do have a Boggle Junior too for kids who can't read yet.
Connect 4 is great for little ones too, and we found that we usually included ours in older games and the learnt very fast - but we are a games mad family.
Uno, jenga, twister, pictionary junior, loads out there - just bnever ever lit Risk into your home when they are old enough. We had world War III every time! Hungry hippo is also great fun.
Balloon Lagoon!!
This is a long-time favorite at our house, and really fun for lots of different ages. (Even Mom!) :-)
One more: Hullabaloo. Even the baby will enjoy that one. :-)
My kids really like Hullaballu(sp)too! My youngest (5 yrs.) really likes Fundex games. They come in little tins that look like lunch boxes. I've found them at Target among other stores. They are simple, easy to follow, but also really fun. Her current favorite is "Cookin' Cookies." You select a recipe card and then use a spoon (with a suction cup) to whap cards in hopes of getting the right ingredients. It's sort of like "Memory" only with whapping...and what kid doesn't like whappin'?

I seem to remember Connect Four and Hungry Hippos as favorites at our house. Others mentioned here sound fun as well!
Love,
When my son was about four we started playing Sorry, Trouble, and Hungry Hippos. As he gets a little older, Monopoly Jr., Apples to Apples, Totally Gross and Life are great ones to try too.
My kids like Don't Break the Ice and this fishing game, where they have to "catch" the snapping mouth as it goes in a circle. Operation is fun too, and they always have one with a new theme.
Hope all is well!

Sequence Jr.
My kids love it. Easy enough for a 3 year old but challenging enough for older kids. Grandparents too.
And my kids LOVE UNO! And I frequently get beat by our 4 year old.
We love Hiss, a sort of card/puzzle game where you try to make complete snakes.
We aren't quite ready to play board games around here yet.. but I remember having Hungry Hippos, Connect Four, Operation, and Battleship (which is probably a little old for four, though!).
Have fun!
The Ladybug Game! Non-readers who can count can play it alone after a few times. My boys love it!
